About

I can’t remember a time when music wasn’t a part of my life. My “stage debut” was in second grade when I was cast as seven year old Marta in The Sound of Music. Throughout high school, college, and beyond, I played in bands, honing my performance skills. After earning a Master’s degree in Music Education, I taught choral music to middle schoolers in the Wilton and Norwalk school systems. My duties included teaching general music classes and directing many diverse choral groups. The Concert Choir, Madrigal Group, Pop Ensemble, and Barbershop Quartet were all under my direction. It was a busy, exciting, and wonderful job, and it was at this time that I began giving private guitar and voice lessons.

My students play chords and strumming patterns right from the start. They learn these through both theory exercises and by applying these skills to actual songs. This keeps them motivated and practicing to get to that next tune. Teaching privately over many years has been pure joy! To see the smiles on the students’ faces as they finally nail a particularly difficult picking pattern or hear how their voices have grown when we play back their video is so very rewarding. So whether you haven’t dusted off your Gibson since college or if you’re “that kid” with the voice who dreams about stardom, contact me and let’s start making music.
